World’s Oldest Dinosaur Nests Found
Posted 1/26/2012 by Kyle
The oldest known dinosaur nests were recently found in South Africa. They were unearthed in Golden Gate Highlands National Park and date back 190 million years! There have been some amazing discoveries at this prehistoric site, including unhatched eggs and adult fossils of the Massospondylus species.
This dinosaur was a herbivore and had a very long neck. Although the Massospondylus walked on all fours when it hatched, the adults walked on two legs. It is very unusual for animals to go from four legs to two, although we humans are known for it. So far, a total of 10 Massospondylus nests have been found at this site.
What else do you think will be found there?
