Atlanta Hawks’ Real-Life Mascot Interrupts Game!

Spirit is the Atlanta Hawks basketball teams’ real-life team mascot. During the beginning of each basketball game played by the Atlanta Hawks, Spirit flies down from the rafters and then is taken away by its handler. It’s a fun tradition to start the game; but during Wednesday night’s game against the Miami Heat, Spirit decided to hang out for a little while longer.

Spirit is perched on top of the shot-clock in the picture here on the left. The bird refused to go to its handler at first and was swooping around during the game, which caused all of the players to stop until Spirit was out of harm’s way. Everyone cheered when the bird’s handler finally took it away!
