Astronomers working with the powerful Kepler space telescope have been estimating how many planets are in our galaxy. Some scientists now believe there are as many as 100 billion planets in the Milky Way! They came up with this number by observing patches of sky in deep space.

When using the Kepler space telescope to study the same area of sky, scientists can observe slight dips in the surrounding stars’ brightness. These little dips occur when a planet passes in front of a star. Of the many possible planets moving around the Milky Way, there may be some that are a lot like Earth.

Do you believe there is intelligent life on other planets?
